The Ouachita National Forest and the Three Rivers Wildlife Management Area have many streams and rivers for various float trips such as canoeing, rafting,kayaking, fishing and mountain biking,& ATV trails(limited ATV access in the Three Rivers WMA). The Glover River, Mountain Fork River and Little River are just a few of the exciting choices to explore and float with various canoe rentals in the area. For trout fishing the Beavers Bend Park and the lower Mt. Fork River would be the place to go for trout fishing. There are many places for primitive camping in these areas also. A land access permit is required for each person using the Three Rivers WMA. For ATV trails, ORV or horseback trail rides there are numerous dirt roads in the Ouachita National Forest that are great traveling. For those who enjoy touring the mountains by highways a scenic Oklahoma motorcycle route would be the Talimena Skyline Drive is a leisurely route that is used by many motorcyclist, it has an amazing view. The Talimena Skyline Drive (OK Highway 1) is a very scenic byway that links Talihina, Oklahoma to Mena, Arkansas through the Ouachita National Forest from the crest of the Winding Stair Mountain in Oklahoma to the crest of the Rich Mountain in Arkansas. OK Highway 259 from Hochatown, Oklahoma going North to OK Highway 59 is another good route many motorcycle enthusiasts enjoy. After a long day on a motorcycle or if primitive camping is not for you, then maybe a secluded mountain cabin with the comforts of home is for you. While in Southeast Oklahoma you may like to visit the Beavers Bend Park or the Broken Bow Lake, which are North of Broken Bow, Oklahoma for more outdoor activities. The Cedar Creek Golf course is a 18 hole P.G.A. golf course located just off Highway 259 in Hochatown which is North of Broken Bow, Oklahoma With each season, see the changing colors of the mountains. Spring brings the lighter greens as trees bud, and the wild flowers bloom into the bright colors. Summer brings the darker more vibrant greens followed by the orange, yellow, red and browns of Autumn. Then trees and shubs lose their leaves in Winter with an occasional sciff of snow and icicles on their branches as they wait for Spring. This is the beauty of the mountains.
